OpenRouter adds Tencent Hy4 with 1M context and first-time visual understanding

Tencent's official Hy4 release is reported to deliver comprehensive and substantial improvements over Hy4 Preview, with particularly strong gains in agentic capabilities and long-horizon real-world productivity tasks, and it introduces visual understanding for the first time.

  • Context window is 1,048,576 tokens and it supports up to 65,536 completion tokens.
  • Pricing is $0.417 per 1M input tokens and $1.251 per 1M output tokens, with Cache Read at $0.021 per 1M tokens, all listed at 50% off.
  • It accepts text and images as input and returns text, and supports function calling via tools and tool_choice plus structured outputs via a JSON schema in response_format.
  • Released November 4, 2026, hosted by a single provider, Tencent Cloud, with OpenRouter forwarding every request directly.

For builders, the combination of a 1M context window, tool calling, and first-time image input suits production agents that read images while executing long multi-step tasks.

moonshotai/Kimi-K3.1-Pro: a 2.8T open-weight multimodal agentic model

Kimi K3.1 Pro is an open-weight, natively multimodal agentic model post-trained from Kimi K3 with large-scale joint reinforcement learning, and it offers a 1-million-token context window.

  • Total parameters 2.8T with 104B activated parameters across 93 layers in a Mixture-of-Experts architecture selecting 16 experts per token.
  • Context length is 1048576, and the vision encoder is MoonViT-V2 with 401M parameters.
  • Quantization uses MXFP4 weights and MXFP8 activations with quantization-aware training.
  • The model card reports 65.7 on Terminal-Bench 4.0, 51.7 on SWE Marathon v1.1, and 70.0 on HLE-Full w/ tools.

For builders, this model pairs a 1-million-token context and native multimodal input with open weights and vLLM, SGLang, and TokenSpeed deployment paths, making it suited to long-context agentic and document-parsing work.

Dharma Field Extractor: Any Document In, Structured Fields in JSON Out

Dharma-AI released Dharma Field Extractor, a 2-billion-parameter model that extracts requested fields from any document type and returns structured JSON, in both open and schema-directed modes.

  • The base model is DharmaOCR-LITE v1.1, a 2-billion-parameter checkpoint, on which a LoRA adapter was trained on 43,384 training examples covering both request modes.
  • The benchmark covers 546 documents across three request scenarios, for 1,638 total cases, scored as field-level F1 multiplied by Levenshtein similarity on matched values and by the share of valid JSON outputs.
  • The model scored 0.834, above every frontier configuration tested, from Claude Opus 5 at 0.816 to GPT-5.6 Luna at 0.741.
  • Cost runs from roughly 6 times lower (GPT-5.6 Luna) to roughly 147 times lower (GPT-5.6 Sol) than frontier APIs; self-hosted cost is GPU time on a single L40S at $2.24 per hour.

For field-level document extraction, a self-hosted 2-billion-parameter specialized model can beat frontier APIs at lower cost on the same benchmark.

Circuit Oracle: Automating Attribution Graph Analysis via Natural-Language Queries

Circuit Oracle is an off-the-shelf LLM with a multi-agent harness and task-specific authored skills that answers natural-language questions about a target model by reading the attribution graph through tool calls. The paper evaluates it on three safety-relevant proxy tasks with mixed results.

  • On spurious-feature detection, Circuit Oracle reaches 78.2 ± 2.4% accuracy, outperforming single-layer feature-ranking baselines.
  • On secret elicitation, trained self-explainers like Activation Oracles remain the stronger baseline.
  • On refusal suppression over 50 prompts, its single committed intervention is slightly below a diff-in-means baseline, and only exceeds it when allowed the best of five attempts.
  • Results are stable across five runs and across model choices for the agents.

Attribution graph analysis can be partially automated by a natural-language agent, but the reported results trail dedicated baselines on secret elicitation and refusal suppression, so builders should treat it as an assistive tool rather tha...

MEMENTO: Learning Context Management for Long Context Processing Agents

The paper presents MEMENTO, a long-context agent built on Qwen3-8B that learns context management through compaction: it is first bootstrapped by fine-tuning on synthetic trajectories annotated with hindsight-generated notes, then reinforced with RL using a reward combining answer correctness, note-quality heuristics, ...

  • The paper reports that on book-level question answering across four benchmarks, with books of up to 2.5M tokens, MEMENTO raises Qwen3-8B's accuracy from 36.9% to 67.8% while never holding more than 20K tokens in context.
  • The paper reports that in the same harness MEMENTO outperforms a GPT-5.5 agent (13.1%) and full book context (56.7%) at less than 1/50 the cost.
  • The paper reports that MEMENTO nearly matches a ~100x larger GLM-5.3 agent (69.3%) at 1/9 the cost, and comes within 6.4 points of GLM-5.3 full context at 1/26 the cost.
  • The paper states that off-the-shelf agentic models, including GPT-5.5 and GLM-5.3, often write ineffective notes, and that RL alone rarely discovers useful note-taking behavior.

For builders of long-context agents, the results suggest that training an explicit compaction policy inside a fixed 20K-token window can approach book-level QA accuracy at far lower cost than much larger models or full-context approaches.

GAVAGAI: Referential Alignment for Infant-Scale Vision-Language Models via Balanced Optimal Transport

The paper adds a referential variable to the next-token captioning objective by treating each scene as a small assignment problem between heard content words and seen regions, solved as entropic optimal transport under a NOTHING column and a capacity constraint. On the SAYCam infant video corpus, adding this alignment ...

  • The alignment step costs about eight Sinkhorn iterations, small next to the vision encoder.
  • A one-parameter version of the model reproduces adult cross-situational learning accuracy across three ambiguity conditions with RMSE 0.024.
  • On the SAYCam infant video corpus, adding the alignment loss to a next-token captioning model raises word-to-picture accuracy from 32.4% to 48.7% and localization IoU from 0.18 to 0.38.

For vision-language models trained under high non-reference rates, an explicit word-to-region assignment variable supplies grounding pressure that a captioning objective alone lacks, though the paper reports it does not beat a contrastive m...

Humanized but Still True? Auditing Facts and Detection in AI-Text Humanizers

The paper uses a rule-based checker to audit whether AI humanizers preserve numbers, dates, person and organization names, and quoted spans, and tests whether a general-purpose decision model, Jev, separates human originals from humanized rewrites.

  • In the October 2026 cycle, all 11 commercial tools changed or dropped at least one checkable unit in 35-65% of documents that contained one.
  • Counting numbers and names alone, 10 of the 11 tools still altered at least one in 20% or more of the documents.
  • An open 12B humanizer kept at least 97% of numbers and names in fact-dense U.S. federal agency text but reworded 67-78% of quoted spans.
  • Jev separated human originals from humanized rewrites with AUROC 0.864 (0.827-0.902), 0.18-0.22 higher than Binoculars, Fast-DetectGPT and RADAR, while calling 24% of human originals AI at a 0.5 threshold.

Builders of humanization or detection pipelines should measure retention of checkable fact units separately, because detector evasion and fact preservation were not clearly related.

Transformers introduces Model Integration Contracts

Hugging Face proposes Model Integration Contracts (MIC), which shrink real checkpoints into small fixtures and run a usage path on CPU to compare against human-reviewed baselines, catching regressions at the PR stage.

  • The UMT5 fixture used 66 MB of weights while the source checkpoint is 1,227 MB.
  • The UMT5 regression ran from its introduction on July 30, 2026 until its fix on September 28, with log-probabilities differing from the baseline by 1.22 and training loss by about 0.20.
  • Llama 4 Scout shrank from 108.6 billion parameters to 44.7 million, with the vision stack going from 34 layers to 2 and the language stack from 48 to 4.
  • In the weight-initialization study, random Whisper fixtures caught 18 of 24 injected faults, while overfit fixtures caught all 24.

Builders can adopt MICs as a cheap CPU-side PR check, but should note that as of November 1, 2026 the MIC job reports failures without blocking PRs.
